For South Indian Breakfast items, we request you to have a glance to our previous blog titled “Simply South” which will definitely take you a great gastronomical journey in just no time. Being said that, Let’s round up the most popular North Indian Breakfast Food:

Stuffed Parathas

Parathas are popular unleavened (no yeast, no baking soda, or baking powder) layered flatbread from Indian cuisine prepared using wheat flour (atta), salt, oil (ghee or butter), and water. There are two kinds of paratha – plain and stuffed. When it comes to stuffed parathas, Aloo Paratha tops the list. Aloo Paratha or Potatoes stuffed Paratha is a delicious and popular Indian stuffed flatbread that is crispy on the outside, with soft and flavorful melt-in-mouth mashed potato filling on the inside. This recipe is for all bread and potato lovers. The other variations available are Gobhi Paratha and Paneer Paratha. Parathas can be served for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and sometimes even as an evening snack. These are also perfect for lunch boxes. Some of the accompaniments for paratha are curd or yogurt or lassi, pickles or achar, a couple of green chilies, or simply with a cup of coffee or tea.

Poori Bhaji

It’s a popular and tasty Indian deep-fried soft & puffy bread recipe made with wheat flour. It is one of the popular choices for morning breakfast which is served with aloo bhaji. Bhaji is just mildly flavored mashed potato which goes well with fried Pooris. Kids and elders both love this kind of breakfast variety.

Poha

Poha or pohe is an Indian breakfast made with flattened rice onions, spices herbs and peanuts. This is truly a delicious and nutritious dish to have for the breakfast. Poha is flattened rice that is steam cooked with onions, spices, and herbs. The word "poha" refers to the flattened rice itself and as well the dish made with it. These flattened rice flakes are also known as parched rice or beaten rice. They are considered to be nutritious & wholesome as they are got by minimally processing paddy.

So flattened rice is used widely across India to make various dishes like chivda, upma, dosa, idli and many more. Among the most commonly eaten is this dish POHA. It is eaten for breakfast, snack & even for a quick dinner. It can also be taken to school or work in lunch box. This simple dish does not need any accompaniment. But simply a cup of tea would work best.

Channa Poori and Channa Bhatura

Chana Puri is one of the delicious, flavorsome and Indian Breakfast. Channa curry is a dish made with white chickpeas, onions, tomatoes, spices, and herbs. Chana Masala or Chickpea Curry is nothing, but chickpeas simmered in a spicy onion tomato masala. Chana or chhole would both refer to garbanzo beans or chickpeas. The beans would be served steaming in a red-brown sauce alongside a big, puffy puri, or a bhatura, which is a delicious, deep-fried bread. Vegan, nut-free and soy-free, and everything but the bhature is gluten-free. When the piping hot plate of Chana Bhatura will be served in front of you, it will be a bliss to poke a hole in the bhatura and watch it deflate before you could tear it with your fingers, dunk it into the chana, and bite into it.

If you have any familiarity with Indian breads, you probably know the fried bread called a "puri." A bhatura is not unlike a puri, except it's bigger and has some yogurt mixed into the dough. Bhaturas are also usually made with refined flour, like all-purpose flour, for a crispier, flakier texture.
